If you’re in that lock down funk at the moment, I know how you feel! Every day feels like groundhog day and normal life is just a distant memory.
Truth is, there are so many things you could do right now. Think of this time off as a blessing because you’ll most likely never have this much time off again!
Trying something new or taking some ‘me’ time is the key to get through this period of your life.

#1 Set Some Goals
Have you taken a minute to set some future goals? This is one of the best ways to feel happier right away. Goal setting is beneficial on so many levels. Goals give you direction and somewhere you’re headed which makes you focused. Goals always have a happy feeling attached at the end of them so not only will visualising them make you feel good but achieving them will give you a sense of purpose.
#2 Go on a Walk
You may not know that exercise increases your serotonin levels, the happy chemical. It’s one of the many benefits of exercise, but even just being on your own enjoying nature and taking in the scenery can really boost your mood.
#3 Listen to Music
Is there a certain song that sparks good memories? Like of a time you were on holiday and had a great summer? Studies show that listening to music is actually good for your health. It can lower levels of the stress-related hormones like cortisol and ease pain.
The benefits of meditation in short term and long term are endless. It has the ability to decrease psychological stress and decrease blood pressure. Meditation doesn’t have to be long, you’ll see huge improvements with just 5 minutes, that’s all you need.
#5 Listen to a Feel Good Podcast or Audio Book
These are what keep me going at the moment. I love anything motivational and inspirational. You can listen to a podcast about anything these days, from learning about business to conspiracy theories. Whatever you’re into you can easily find something that suits you. My favourite at the moment is ‘You are a badass at making money‘ by Jen Sincero. It’s great for clearing my money blocks
#6 Read Your favourite Book Again or a New Book
The Harry Potter novels are my all-time favourites (cliche, I know!) but I love the writing style, the story, and the emotions I feel reading them. Of course, there’s nothing like that feeling when you first read a new book, the excitement! Which is why trying something new can also be beneficial.
#7 Do Some Gardening
Horticulture has been proven to have therapeutic tendencies. You’ll feel better just for being outside and getting in touch with nature. Not only that but having a project to focus on can really make you feel happier overall and trying something new is a great way to step out of your comfort zone
#8 Take a Relaxing Bath
This is my favourite. I don’t know what I’d do without my daily bath time. This one is all about ‘me time’ There’s nothing like soaking your troubles away with some bubble bath and a scented candle. Not only that but a bath can help your muscles, joints, and bones. I know I always feel happier instantly and like new after a long bath.

#9 Take a Power Nap
Taking a nap can make you feel more alert and enhance performance if it’s for no more than 30 mins. 20 minutes is the optimum time though. That’s because if you get into a deep sleep, you will probably wake up feeling even more tired and groggy so be sure to set an alarm! Sometimes the only reason you feel down is that you’re tired so give this a try.
#10 Donate Old Clothes
I bet there are old pieces in your wardrobe that you’ve not worn in years. Am I right? Imagine how good it would feel to give up that old tatty shirt you haven’t worn in 5 years to someone who can’t afford new clothes for them or their children. There are plenty of local charities you can donate to. You don’t have to do it straight away but go through your stuff and make a pile so it’s ready to go.
#11 Create a Vision Board
If you haven’t heard of a vision board, it’s basically a board full of pictures of your goals and what you envision having. It could be more money, a promotion, a family, anything that would make you happy! Just find photos or pictures from magazine that relate to what you want. Looking at this every day will inspire you to work hard for those things and allow the universe to give you those things.
#12 Call Your Best Friend for a Chat
I don’t know about you but speaking to my best friend makes me instantly feel happier! Sometimes it’s nice to rant, or just catch up with someone. Having someone that will listen to you and your problems is all you really need.
#13 Start a New Venture
