Unless you’ve been living in a bunker somewhere, you’ll know that the whole world is in quarantine right now. We’re living through a future history lesson and before you know it we’ll all be saying “during the coronavirus”
I can imagine that mental health is a hot topic right now. This quarantine may be tough but you need to take it as an opportunity to find yourself and do things you’ve never had time to do.
Speaking to friends and family I’ve heard a lot of “I can’t motivate myself” and I honestly get it. At the start of quarantine, I would think to myself “I’ve still got so much time” and it would prevent me from doing anything that day.
If you’re feeling this try and change your perspective, think about how you would feel if you looked back at this time off and you’d done nothing! Try reading my post ‘Lost your motivation? How to get it back!’
I hope this post helps anyone who feels a bit stuck. I might make it a regular monthly feature to inspire others to try new things.
Here are the 7 things that are keeping me busy right now…
One thing I love is acquiring knowledge! If it helps me grow and get better then I’m all over it. Right now I’m taking a Pinterest course and putting into action what I’m learning.
We live in a time where anything we want to learn is at our fingertips. If you’ve always been interested in starting a side business, why not start now?
There are so many sites you can use. One I like in particular is Udemy. Every so often they have major discounts and you can bag yourself a course for as little as £11.99.
Another way of learning is to join a membership site. Depending on the membership site there would be different topics that you can choose to learn from. A great membership site that I’m part of right now is the Female Entrepreneur Association. If you’re an aspiring female boss then it has everything you can ever need to help you set up your online business.
You may not have a dog but are you doing any exercise what so ever?
That once a day walk I do with the beagle boy really keeps my day going. The fresh air and glorious sunshine we’ve been having has given me plenty of vitamin D.
If you’re going a little crazy being at home, you’re probably suffering from cabin fever. So don’t underestimate the power of a good walk, it might be just what you need to clear your mind and find something you’re searching for, like motivation to exercise or inspiration to start writing a new book!
Finding inspiration isn’t easy for me, I struggle to be creative. In my eyes, podcasts are an easy way to get inspiration because I can listen to them whilst doing anything. I plug my headphones in and I can pause whenever I want. You can’t do that with books or videos.
Also, the topics are endless. Whatever I need I can find a topic on. Health & fitness, motivation, business strategies, Keto diets, you name it.
One of my favourite podcasts is by none other than Cara Alwill Leyba. She’s an author and female entrepreneur who talks about lifestyle topics. Listen to her podcast Style Your Mind if you need inspiration.
I love the idea of baking but I’ve never been any good at it. As soon as went into quarantine I thought “This is my time to shine”
A red velvet cake and some brownies later, I think I’m doing OK! Of course, it was difficult getting the ingredients at first but supermarkets seem to be getting fully stocked again.
There’s something therapeutic for me about baking. I don’t know what it is but putting all those ingredients together and getting something to eat at the end just does it for me!
However, having said that I don’t think I’ll ever do it professionally.
Doesn’t having a clear-out make you feel like you’re getting your life together? It does for me! In just a few weeks I’ve cleared out food, clothes, paperwork, and makeup!
About 2 months ago I decided to never again buy any makeup products which have been subject to animal testing. Even though I made such a big statement I never got round to going through ALL my beauty and throwing out the brands I don’t use anymore. Well anyway, a few days ago I managed to do so and let me tell you, I feel like a new woman now!
I don’t know why we’ve all just decided to host virtual parties now during quarantine and never thought it about before but I’m all up for them!
I’ve had 2 virtual quiz nights with the family so far and they’ve been great fun. We’ve decided to make it a weekly theme and take it in turns hosting a different type of quiz each time. We love it and it gives us something to look forward to.
This one goes without saying really. Blogging gives me life as it is but it’s been nice to be able to carry on this hobby during this time. I’ve never been a lover of writing (I know, it’s crazy to blog if I don’t love to write) but I’ve always been a lover of sharing information, helping and guiding others. So what better way than to do that than blogging right?
The love for sharing makes blogging an enjoyable experience. In all honesty, I wish I’d started sooner but fears and limiting beliefs really held me back, as well as lack of clarity. That’s why my blog is dedicated to helping other aspiring female entrepreneurs get over those fears and beliefs just like I have.
